u04s2 Unit 6 Assignment: Lifespan Development Paper
In Unit 6, you will submit a 3–5 page research paper that
addresses an area of lifespan development. In order to allow yourself
sufficient time to turn in a thorough and well-written assignment, begin
your work on that assignment in this unit.
Before you submit you Lifespan Development Paper in Unit 6, you will
first submit your Lifespan Development paper for a peer review, in Unit
5; so you need to make sure you have your draft ready to go at that
time. Following are the directions for this assignment:
Select one of the following areas of lifespan development for review:
- Language development.
- Cognitive development.
- Psychosocial development.
- Moral development.
Once you have selected your area of
development, review the prominent theories associated with that area,
and choose at least one specific theory to investigate.
You will complete a 3–5 page paper that discusses the area of
development and theories you have chosen. In addition to information
contained in your course materials, you will be required to incorporate
information from a minimum of two recent (a publication date within the
last 10 years) scholarly articles in the paper. To assist you in
conducting your article search, resources have been provided in the
Resources section below.
Your selected articles should address current psychological research
that supports or negates the developmental theories you have selected
and should be contained in one of the many databases found in the
Capella Library. Guidelines for using the Capella Library search
functions and recommended databases are found in the Library's
Undergraduate Research Guide, in the section for Psychology courses. A
link to the Library Guide is provided in the Resource section of this
assignment.
Use the following outline to construct your paper:
Introduction
This section of your paper should provide an overview of the lifespan development area and related theory(s) you have selected.
Related Research
In this section summarize each of the articles you have selected for this paper. Your summary should include the following:
- A statement regarding the purpose of the psychological research.
Note: The purpose of the research will be discussed in the abstract,
introduction, and discussion and conclusion sections of the article.
- Identification of the specific methods utilized by the researchers
to conduct the study. Note: This information is addressed in the methods
section of the articles.
- A discussion of the research findings and their implications. Note:
This information is addressed in the discussion and conclusion section
of the article.
Conclusion
You should conclude your
paper with 1–2 paragraphs that compare and contrast your selected
articles. Explain how the research studies support or negate the
lifespan development theories you selected. Explore how the research
outlined in your selected articles relates to the course material you
have studied thus far in class.

- APA Formatting: Resources and citations should be formatted according to the APA (6th edition) style and formatting.
- Font and Font Size: Times New Roman, 12 point, double-spaced. Use Microsoft Word to complete the assignment.

- You are required to use SafeAssign to ensure that you have correctly
paraphrased and cited any resources you incorporated into your paper.
